LasX Industries is proud to have been selected as a Bronze Leaf Award winner in the Best Use of Laser Cutting category at the 20th Annual Gold Leaf Awards Competition, sponsored by the Foil & Specialty Effects Association (FSEA). The prestigious Gold Leaf Awards Competition honors imaginative and technically difficult works in a variety of categories which creatively incorporate foil stamping, embossing, die cutting, or specialty effects. Each year it is a culmination of the most original, brilliant and innovative works in the industry. Design, execution, and level of difficulty were used as criteria to judge more than 250 entries submitted this year by trade finishers and commercial printers from across the globe, which competed in 29 different categories.
LasX has a long history of achievement at the Gold Leaf Awards. This is the fourth consecutive year LasX has received an honor in the competition, including both Gold and Silver in 2010.
The Time to Be Extraordinary Clock Piece, designed and laser cut by LasX Industries, features multiple laser cut panels to illustrate clock gears and hands. When closed, the cover of the folder reveals a stunning, three dimensional clock face. Detail like this can only be achieved using laser cutting. But it also critical to that the laser system is able to deliver superior registration and precision, especially with a piece that is both printed and cut on multiple panels that must perfectly align. This award winner was cut on a sheet-fed LaserSharp® STP laser cutting system, ideal for greeting cards, direct mail pieces, folding cartons, and more.

With so much beauty surrounding us, it’s no wonder that designs often take inspiration from natural elements – and we love when they’re used as creative embellishments for laser cut pieces. In honor of Earth Day, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite laser cut designs that all incorporate the beauty of nature. But these environmentally themed ideas aren’t just reserved for Earth Day, we think they’re also perfect year-round. Take a look at these seven unique designs, and read on for more details.
How do you plan to take part in Earth Day, today and everyday? Let us know in the comments!
1. This promotional brochure for a safari themed resort features intricate laser cut animals on multiple panels to bring the excitement of the vacation to the brochure itself.
2. Floral themes have long been popular in greeting card designs – but when they’re laser cut, the card is taken to a new level of elegance.
3. A tropical themed resort brochure is brought to life with laser cut motifs that depict indigenous plants, animals, and local landmarks, giving potential vacation goers a taste of what is to come.
4. The cover of this informational folder literally showcases the entire earth with a laser cut map of all seven continents that is accented by a red printed panel inside.
5. A delicate laser cut tree is prominently featured on front of this brochure and is highlighted against printed color on the inside panel giving it the realistic feel of a summer sunset.
6. Laser cutting is also a great way to add a three dimensional effect to an otherwise flat piece. Here, the butterfly wings are laser cut and slightly bent along a laser scored line to create the illusion that the butterfly is soaring off the page.
7. The front of this fashion show announcement uses a complex laser cut scene to depict birds perched on a branch. The laser cut design is precisely registered to printed details on both the outside and inside of the card. This level of detail wouldn’t be possible using metal die cutting.
We hope these nature-infused examples give you inspiration for your next design project. Click here to learn more about how laser cutting services can help you achieve your design goals. Happy Earth Day!
Wedding stationery is both functional and a personal reflection of the bride and groom. Color selection, layout, and decorative accents all make a statement about the couple and give guests a taste of what is yet to come at the event. Laser cutting can add interest and dimension to an ordinary invitation and elevate the design to a new level. By incorporating laser cut patterns and motifs throughout wedding stationery, a cohesive look can easily be achieved.
These great examples of laser cut wedding invitation suites all show how laser cutting can be used to create a beautiful tied together collection.
A Modern Classic
This first example is a classic, elegant invitation suite that uses a black and pearl white color scheme to make a statement. A laser cut flower embalm is repeated throughout on the tri-fold invitation, inserts, and thank you card. It simplicity doesn’t overpower the collection, but still adds a unique look that makes this suite personal. Laser cut text is also a great way to subtly incorporate laser cutting into a design.
A pocket holds four removable cards with further instructions for guests. The text and small flower details are laser cut, adding a bit of sophistication to otherwise simple pieces.
Welcoming Autumnal Invite
This autumn inspired wedding invitation suite takes a new approach on classic monogrammed wedding stationery. A monogram, embellished with an intricate leaf pattern, was carried throughout the collection from the invitation to the cupcake wrap and thank you cards. Delicate laser cut branches were also added to the burnt orange insert to carry on the theme. The rich pearlescent paper in warm autumnal tones combined with the ornate laser cut details make this a very welcoming invitation suite.
Laser cut tabs in the shapes of leaves were added to the tri-fold invitation to secure it closed. The laser cut cupcake wrappers are a showstopper that bring the theme of the wedding stationary to the event itself.
Fresh Spring Florals
Lastly, this bright spring wedding invitation suite uses a lime green color scheme with contrasts of black to accentuate intricate laser cut details. Instead of using pockets to hold information cards, this invitation is designed similar to a book, with several printed pages that are each accented by laser cutting. From laser cut bubbles in the champagne glasses to a delicate daisy chain that holds a response card, this example is truly the epitome of a functional, yet highly decorative invitation suite that is sure to wow guests.
The front of the invitation uses a simple monogram accented by graceful floral details that are repeated throughout the pages inside.
We want to know: how are you planning to tie all of your wedding stationery together to create a cohesive look?
